Valy at the Genesis Centre’s Feature Gymnasium

On January 3rd 2015 we had the distinct pleasure to work with Valy a multilingual musician who currently resides in Herat, Afghanistan. You can check out a few of his high production value YouTube videos on his label’s YouTube channel here.

We outfitted the Genesis Centre’s feature gym with a complete QSC sound system featuring four QSC KW 153 series tops and four QSC KW 181 sub woofers for mains. We also provided six 15mm birch wood cabinet QSC HPR 122 speakers in which we used four as monitors and two for front fills.

Our lighting rig consisted of twenty four feet of Soundking truss ground lifted on twelve foot lifts. The trussing was outfitted with six Par 56 LED 3 Watt fixtures and 4 Chauvet Intimidator Spot LED 350 movers.
For front wash we provided two ETC Source 4 on a crank stand from the mix position and all of the lighting was run from our four DMX universe pearl 2010 lighting controller.
Lighting Console
I was thankful for the ability to easily control the movers positioning on the fly with the lighting console as the lead singer would often mingle with the crowd while singing. The back lighting from the intelligent fixtures had a very nice affect, although when we next work with this artist, I will most certainly arm my crew with a follow spot just in case.
Sound and Lighting Production
I was particularly happy to see a convenient loading dock and plenty of available power for the new venue as it was my first time working in the Genesis Centre’s new "Feature Gymnasium".

The show went off without a hitch and our staff were able to enjoy some really nice Afghan inspired food.
We are looking forward to working again within this community and are very pleased with the new event facilities available in this bustling north east community center.

Lighting with 4 Movers 16 Par and 3 Source 4

I had the pleasure of working with the SriLankan community at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cultural Centre this past Saturday for their community event.

We supplied Twenty Four feet of truss, four moving Chauvet Intimidator Spot 350 Beam Lights, Sixteen Par 56 LED Goldbright Lights, and Three Source Four ETC Leko Lights.

One of the Source Four was used as a key light to transition between the performances and the  podium.

The software took a bit of programming but the result was very pleasing and I felt very little limitation with the interface during the show itself to achieve the stage effects I desired.

Above is a photo of our USB lighting controller which features automated faders and can be programmed to control our lighting software.

Below are some of the shots from the program itself.

Thank you to the community for a wonderful experience and a beautiful meal.

Wedding at the Westin

Filed under: Events — Duncworthy @ 2:26 pm

This past weekend we had the opportunity to work in the lovely air conditioned Westin Hotel.

We ordered 8 custom gobos to fit our 4 Intimidator 350 Moving Head LED lights and 4 ETC Source 4 conventionals.  The effect was quite pleasing  as the gobo projections transformed the walls.

The wedding itself took place in the main hall outside the ballroom.  As you can see in the picture above the wedding designer did a wonderful job decorating the area.

We were onsite for the ceremony itself to make sure that everything went smooth while the couple exchanged the words they so carefully prepared.

A few more shots of the up-lighting.
